Fresh out of military service, Mak-dong boards the train headed for his hometown. There he bumps into Mi-eh and grabs her rose-colored scarf. Mak-dong’s hometown is not the town he grew up in: the rice paddies and fields have been replaced by high-rise apartments, and his family has all gone their separate ways. Mak-dong looks for a job and by chance is reunited with Mi-eh, working as a singer at a night club.
