pitch&catch

Open pitching programs have surfaced as a new trend in today's Korean film industry. Among them, IWFFIS's Pitch&Catch's achievement in leading a project from its incubation to its production has been the most noteworthy. With the past two Pitch&Catch, it established itself as a successful pitching program with an astonishing achievement of the following projects being produced by 2012: Two Weddings and a Funeral directed by KIMCHO Kwang-su; Miss Conspirator , a film directed by PARK Cheol-gwan; Grape Candy directed by KIM Hee-jung. Also, activities of the award winners of the documentary section is closely followed through the February 9, 2012 theater releases of 2 Lines directed by Jimin, and the world premier of Wandering Stars directed by LEE Sookkyung scheduled for the festival.
Under the motto of "discovering and fostering female film projects", the 3rd Pitch&Cath will showcase open pitching sessions for planning and development of feature films, for production support of documentaries, and for production support of short animation films, which is a new addition to the program. Last February, through an intense preliminary evaluation process, 3 feature films, 3 documentaries, and 1 short animation film were selected in the end. Directors of the selected projects will participate in "Pitch&Catch LAB", which consists of mentoring on film production and training on pitching, and will be introduced to film industry people through an open pitching session during the film festival in April. Afterwards, an opportunity for private business meetings will be offered. In addition, through the onsite, final evaluation, the best projects will receive 40 million KRW.
